In keeping with a commitment to imaging stewardship in the age of value, the Journal of the American College of Radiology is partnering with HVPAA to invite submissions for an upcoming Care Transformation focus issue.
This focus issue of JACR aims to disseminate provider-led initiatives championed by radiologists or nonradiology specialists that increase efficacy and efficiency of care delivery. Care transformation can be defined broadly in the context of care delivery, organizational and structural changes, optimizing screening, diagnosis, or surveillance of disease, and eliminating health disparity. Diagnostic and interventional radiology performance improvement initiatives that prioritize patient-related outcomes (quality, safety, experience, cost of care), consistency (reducing unwarranted variability) and efficiency of care delivery by clinicians (provider experience) will be considered. Submission should align with one of these 3 pillars of the journal’s scope: health services research & policy, clinical practice management, and data science. Manuscripts with rich data-driven analysis are preferred.

- Manuscript invitations: October 1, 2020
- Deadline for submission (if proposal invited): February 1, 2021
- Acceptances announced with request for revisions: March 1, 2021
- Deadline for final manuscripts after any requested revisions: April 1, 2021
- Official acceptances: April 30, 2021
- Print publication issue for accepted manuscripts: September 2021

Guest Editors for this special issue are co-directors HVPAA Radiology Collaborative, Pamela T. Johnson, MD, FACR and Yoshimi Anzai, MD, MPH.
Please note that submission of an abstract is not a guarantee for article solicitation, nor is JACR solicitation a guarantee for publication. Manuscripts will still undergo peer review and acceptance of a concept proposal is not a guarantee of manuscript acceptance. Preference will be given to initiatives with the following features:
- IRB approval
- generalizable results
- blinding of outcome assessment
- compare to control group
- involve randomization, clustered randomization or stepped wedge designs
- register at Clinicaltrials.gov
- adhere to SQUIRE guidelines (Standards for Quality Improvement Reporting Excellence)
